“Majectic, Rocky Mountain Elk”. Original Small Gouache painting by Nicole Strasburg. Painted Arches Board, this wee charmer depicts a Rocky Mountain Elk spotted on a day trip to the Tejon Conservancy in Central California. The elk were imported from Yellowstone National Park in 1966 on this massive ranch. The ranch started with a Mexican land grant in 1843 and grew in the next decade with the purchase of more grants by it’s founder. It remains today at 270,000 acres of some of the most pristine land preserved in the state. The new owners have granted access and opened the ranch for touring. It has some of the most spectacular views, the elk are just one of those.
